EU_Commission2Congratulations to Methodist College Belfast on winning the first Northern Ireland Euro Quiz.  The event was organised by the European Commission Office in Northern Ireland and supported by The Northern Ireland Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research (NICILT) and Belfast City Council.
Around 50 schools took part in a series of regional heats prior to the Final which was held at the MAC Theatre in Belfast on Thursday 28 May.   The Final was keenly contested by teams from ten schools.  Competition to win the title was close with many schools taking the lead at different points during the quiz.  After several rounds of tricky questions covering European geography, lifestyles, culture, language, landmarks and celebrities there was a tie for first place.
An exciting tie-break question saw the team from Methodist College Belfast emerge as winners with Our Lady and St Patrick’s College as very worthy runners up.

The whole event was streamed live over the internet and a recording of it can be viewed below.
The other schools represented in the Final (in alphabetical order) were:

Erne Integrated College, Omagh Academy, Rainey Endowed School, St. Columb’s College, St. Patrick’s High School, St. Paul’s High School, St. Pius X College and Thornhill College.
